Relaxing Holidays in Cornwall at the Marina Villa Hotel
Cornwall was made for relaxation. The air is cleaner and the pace of life is unhurried; it's easy to forget the stresses of work, traffic and busy towns and cities. You may choose to simply slow down and soak up the atmosphere, or you may decide to explore all that's on offer in Cornwall; however you'd like to spend your time here, you're certain to leave feeling invigorated.Fowey
Fowey is a designated Area of Outstanding Beauty, and it's not hard to see why. This ancient port is rich in historical architecture; spending a few hours dawdling on the waterfront or through the narrow streets packed with unusual shops and galleries makes a great afternoon. The famous writer Daphne Du Maurier grew up nearby and later set many of her novels around Fowey, leaving a fascinating literary heritage that culminates in the Daphne Du Maurier Festival of Arts and Literature in early May. This draws many celebrated writers, artists and musicians, making the festival a must for those with an interest in the arts. August brings Fowey's Royal Regatta, one of Britain's finest sailing events with a week of non-stop entertainment on land and on water.
Fun Days Out
Fowey is close to many of Cornwall's finest attractions. The Eden Project is a short drive away, many historic houses and gardens such as Lanhydrock and the Lost Gardens of Heligan lie within easy reach, and there are dozens of glorious beaches surrounding Fowey up and down the south Cornish coast. If you'd like to venture a little further, St Ives offers a wonderful day out with the striking Tate Gallery, thriving local art scene and profusion of good fish restaurants and cafes. The busy harbour town of Falmouth, further south on the coast, is home to the famous National Maritime Museum with state-of-the-art hands-on exhibitions.
