The Duchy’s total area is about 140,000 acres in 25 counties with much of the land holding concentrated in Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, Devon and the West Country. The Duchy was created in 1337 by Edward III for his son, Prince Edward (the Black Prince). A charter ruled that each future Duke of Cornwall would be the eldest surviving son of the monarch and heir to the throne. The Duchy of Cornwall aims to provide unique opportunities to stay in attractive period properties in beautiful locations. Drawing on diverse skills within the Duchy, each property will be comprehensively refurbished, furnished and equipped to respect the style and age of the building. Our brief was to create a website that would provide an insight into the wonderful accommodation options provided by the Duchy of Cornwall, and furthering the Duchy's brand.
