The Duchy of Cornwall is one of the largest and oldest landed estates in Britain. The Duchys total area is about 140,000 acres in 25 counties with much of the land holding concentrated in Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, Devon and the West Country. The Duchy was created in 1337 by Edward III for his son, Prince Edward (the Black Prince). A charter ruled that each future Duke of Cornwall would be the eldest surviving son of the monarch and heir to the throne.
The Duchy of Cornwall aims to provide unique opportunities to stay in attractive period properties in beautiful locations. Drawing on diverse skills within the Duchy, each property will be comprehensively refurbished, furnished and equipped to respect the style and age of the building. The cottage is located in unspoilt countryside at the head of the beautiful Fowey valley adjacent to the Duchy of Cornwall Garden Nursery overlooking Restormel Castle.
A perfect retreat surrounded by extensive woodland walks, close to Cornwalls beautiful South coast and within easy travel distance of the rugged North coast.
Restormel Cottage is approximately 200 years old and was constructed reputedly utilising stonework salvaged from Restormel Castle & Priory.
